plate of love

as time flies/
and the memory fades/
into the noisy background/
i glimpse a reflection/
of the gnawed pages/
half burnt on the edges/
with coffee stains on the ledges/

a shadow crosses/
it's a ghost of the past/
on a trip to the present/
a smile forms/
a giggle accompanies/
then a great laugh/

the pieces now fit/
the music has a great tune/
the days are fuller/
time and days have passed/
the coffee stain  still untouched/
the half burnt pages still on the table/
the story still unfinished/
the midnight oil still burns/
the wheels of life and fate move undettered/

i pick the draft/
slowly throw it in the dustbin/
it's a story of how it began/
i don't have the conclusion yet/
i don't need one/
i already know how it will end/
i touch the coffee stain/
and smile at  the memory/

i pick the mug/
the coffee has gone cold/
dido's song comes to mind/
a load of memories come with it/
one day you'll know why/
those were the parting words/
i think i already know/

a plate of love/
a glass of care/
a spoonfull of trust/
spiced with enthsiasm/
am already full/
i sigh with delight/
it has been worth it/
